Last night we released an update to PromoteMyPlace which includes the following system changes:
- Template framework re-coded to allow for greater flexibility.
- New responsive versions of the existing templates.
- Two new templates.
The template framework update is a behind-the-scenes enhancement that gives us a more robust and flexible foundation to build future templates on. This will allow us to develop the template framework more easily and provide you with additional functionality.
The responsive templates update means that you no longer need to activate the mobile-friendly version of your website. If you switch your template to the latest version, it will respond accordingly to different screen sizes, depending on the device your website is being viewed on.
We recommend that you switch to the responsive version of your chosen template for a more modern look and feel, and to provide a better user experience – regardless of the device your website is viewed on, the look and feel will be the same.
The addition of our two new templates provide fresh modern designs to complement our existing range. These templates are also responsive, so there's no need to activate the mobile-friendly functionality.
Other system improvements included in this release are:
Please note, all the improvements listed below are only relevant if you switch to the responsive templates - either your existing responsive template, or to one of the new design templates. Providing you with more benefits of upgrading your website.
Header Image Update:
- The header image section now includes a slider with controls. This enables your website visitors to flick forward or backward through multiple images at their own speed.
- For each of the photos in your header image section you can now add a caption. This optionally consists of a heading, sub heading and a 'call to action' in the form of a button. You can use this to entice your website visitors to click through to other pages of your website.
Forms Update:
- The Enquiry Form is now much cleaner and clearer making it even easier for your website visitors to make an enquiry.
- The default CAPTCHA on all forms has been upgraded to the latest version so it's easier to complete.
- The Search facility for multi property listing style websites has been improved with a more modern looking form.
- An improvement to the calendar pop-up on Enquiry and Search forms makes it even easier for your website visitors to select their preferred dates.
Multi Property Navigation
- We have improved the navigation for multi property websites on the property Details page by adding tabs.
This reduces the scroll on individual property pages, and enables your website visitors to navigate between sections more easily.

- Click the link to find the old version of the template you want to use.

Things to be aware of if you switch templates:
Whilst we have tried to ensure the switch process is as straight-forward as possible, there are a few things you may need to do once you've switched.
We suggest you Preview your website after switching, and complete a full check.
A few specific things to be aware of are:
1) Reselect Colour Scheme
You may need to reselect your chosen colour scheme
2) Header Images
If your header images now appear pixelated, this will be because of the difference in width of the new templates. The images may become stretched. If so, you will need to resave the crop.
Simply go into Section 2 – Choose & Customise Template / Customise Template – scroll down and click on the button Header Image Options:
Next, click Adjust Crop - but do not make any adjustment to the crop – and simply click Save Cropped Image and then Save.
If that does not resolve your specific problem, contact our Support team via email - support@promotemyplace.zendesk.com - with full details of the problem and an example image for reference.
3) Embedded Content - There may be some issues with embedded content such as PayPal buttons and 3rd party calendars.
If you have embedded content, please check your website after making the switch and report any problems to our Support team via email - support@promotemyplace.zendesk.com – please provide full details so we can assist as quickly as possible.
4) Collapsed Menu - The menu on your website will be responsive and will collapse (if necessary) when viewed on smaller screens.
However, with the update, if you have a lot of items on the main menu, or items that contain multiple words, your menu may collapse even when viewed at full screen, because there is not enough room for it.
All you'll need to do for your menu to be visible at full screen, is rearrange or rename your menu items.
For example:
- Use sub-menu pages to organise pages into logical sections
- Move less important pages off the main menu to the footer menu
- Rename your main menu items to be more succinct
5) Formatting Issues – There could be unexpected formatting issues if you have embedded custom HTML code on any of your webpages.
Please report any issues to our Support team via email - support@promotemyplace.zendesk.com - please provide full details so we can assist as quickly as possible.
6) Forms – We recommend that you test your enquiry form after switching to ensure you receive an email notification as normal. If you have CAPTCHA enabled, this same test email will check that works correctly also.
And finally, we have completed our own extensive testing prior to this release, but due to the vast number of changes there may be some issues with individual websites.
If you spot any problems with your own website, please get in touch with us via email at support@promotemyplace.zendesk.com providing full details with screenshots if relevant / possible, so we can investigate and resolve as quickly as possible for you.
We hope you like the new templates and functionality offered.
