To add either internal webpage links, or links from your webpages to an external website simply follow the instructions below:
1. How to add an internal link from one page on your website to another page on your website?
To do this, first once logged into your account and when previewing your website take the URL of the page you wish to link a certain piece of text to. Then go into 'Edit Website Content' and using the left hand menu, click into the page you wish to add this link to. Write the content you’d like in the main text box, then highlight the specific text you would like the link to activate from, click on the ‘Insert/edit link' button in the tool bar above (3rd one in from the top right that looks like a chain) and paste the URL into the required field.
i.e. ‘Please Contact Us today to discuss your specific dates or for further information.'
The link would activate if the website visitor clicked on ‘Contact Us’ and they would then navigate away to the 'Enquiries' page of your website.
Step 1: Highlight the text you wish to add the internal link to.
Step 2: Click on the 'Insert/edit link' icon and add the URL into the box that appears, as well as set the Target and click 'Insert'.
TIP: If you are creating an internal link set the target to 'None' so it opens in the same tab.
Step 3: Once you've clicked the 'Insert' button your link will be created and text will be highlighted slightly so your website visitors are aware of the link.
2. How to add an external link from one of your website’s pages to a page on another website?
To add an external link from any page on your website simply enter ‘Edit website content’ and click in to the page/s you’d like the link to appear on. Write the content you’d like in the main text box, then highlight the specific text you would like the link to activate from, click on the ‘Insert/edit link' button in the tool bar above and paste the external website's URL into the required field.
i.e. ‘There are many water-based sport activities in our local area with scuba diving being world-renowned’
The link would activate if the website visitor clicked on ‘water-based sport activities’ and they would then navigate away to that relevant external website link.
Step 1: Highlight the text you wish to add the external link to.
Step 2: Click on the 'Insert/edit link' icon and add the URL into the box that appears, as well as set the Target and click 'Insert'.
TIP: If you are creating an external link set the target to open in a 'New window' so that your website visitors do not navigate entirely away from your website.
Step 3: Once you've clicked the 'Insert' button your link will be created and text will be highlighted slightly so your website visitors are aware of the link.
3. How to set links to open in a new browser tab or window?
We recommend setting any external links to open in another window to ensure your potential customers do not navigate entirely away from your website. To do this after inserting the link in the URL box provided, click on ‘Target’. Here you have 2 options:
- None
- New window
Click on ‘New window’ then save by clicking ‘OK'. The external link will now open in a new window.
