We've reorganised the menu in the website builder so things are easier to find. Nothing has been removed, and none of your content has changed, but some items have new names or sit in a different group. This article shows you where everything is now.
This applies to Version 2 of the website builder - the one you log into at sitebuilder.promotemyplace.com. If you also still have a Version 1 website, nothing there has changed - it works exactly as it did. Not sure which you're using? Which version of PromoteMyPlace am I using?
Applies to: PMP website builder (V2)
The Quick Version
The menu down the left of the builder is now grouped by what you're trying to do. Most items sit inside a group that opens when you click it, so if something looks missing, it's usually inside a group rather than gone.
The buttons along the top of the screen are where they always were.
What's Been Renamed
| You used to look for | It's now called | Where it is |
|---|---|---|
| Template | Design | Its own group |
| Footer Menu | Footer Links | Content |
| Logo & Tagline | Logo Style | Design |
| Setup Analytics | Analytics | Settings |
| Reservation Mgr | Bookings | Its own item |
What's Moved to a Different Group
Main Menu used to sit inside a Menus group. There's no Menus group any more, so Main Menu now sits directly under Content, with Footer Links alongside it.
Footer sections have moved out of Design and into Content > Footer Sections. Your footer content is all in one place with the rest of your content now, rather than being split between two groups.
Analytics has moved out of the advanced settings and into Settings. Adding your tracking ID is a normal thing to want to do, so it's no longer tucked away with the technical bits.
Trash now sits on its own below a dividing line, and you'll also find it directly on your Pages list and your Websites list. That's where you'll be when you realise you need something back, so that's where we've put it.
Help has moved into your account menu, at the top right of the screen.
If You Have One Property
Many people have a single property, and for you it now has its own Property group in the menu, instead of sitting behind a Properties list you had to click through first.
Open Property and everything about it is there together:
- Property Dashboard
- Details
- Location
- Rates
- Availability
- Guest Reviews
- Enquiry Settings
Same screens as before, one click closer.
If you have more than one property, your Properties list works exactly as it did before.
Bookings
If you take bookings through us, Bookings is now a single item in the menu that opens your booking management screens. It used to be called Reservation Mgr.
If you don't have the booking system yet, you'll see a Bookings item that explains what it does and how to add it.
On a Phone or Tablet
Reservations and Enquiries are now in the menu on smaller screens. They were previously only reachable on a desktop computer, which wasn't much use when you were out and wanted to check a booking.
Building and publishing your website is still best done on a computer, where you've got the room to work.
Publishing: Clearer Names for the Same Steps
Publishing works exactly as it did. We've renamed a couple of things on your Pages list so they say what they actually do.
| You used to see | It now says | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Publish (on a page) | Mark ready | Marks that page to go live next time you publish your site. On its own, it doesn't change your live site. |
| Unpublish (on a page) | Take offline | Takes that page off your live site straight away. |
The page labels have changed to match:
- Draft means the page isn't on your live site.
- Ready to publish means it's waiting for you to publish.
- Live means visitors can see it.
The button at the top of the screen is unchanged for an existing website. It appears when you've got something waiting to go live, and it says Publish changes. If you've never published your website before, it says Make site live instead.
You'll also see a line at the top of your Pages list when pages are waiting, telling you how many there are.
What Hasn't Changed
- Publishing behaves exactly as it always has. Only the wording is clearer.
- Your pages, content, images, settings and bookings are all untouched.
- Your live website is unaffected. This is a change to the builder you work in, not to the site your guests see.
- Nothing needs republishing because of this change.
Common Questions
I can't find something that used to be in the menu. Check inside the groups first. Most items now sit within a group that opens when you click the group name, so things that used to be in one long list are tucked inside Content, Design or Settings. If you still can't find it, get in touch, and we'll tell you exactly where it is.
An article or video I'm following doesn't match my screen. We're working on updating them. The steps themselves still work; it's usually the name of a menu item or which group it's in that's different. Use the table above to translate, or get in touch.
Do I need to do anything? No. There's nothing to set up, nothing to republish and nothing to move. Everything carried over as it was.
Has my website changed? No. Your live website looks exactly the same to your guests. This change is only to the builder you log into.
Still Stuck?
If you're looking for something and can't find it, get in touch with your website address and tell us what you're trying to do. We'll point you straight to it.
