Google change the setup process for analytics on a regular basis, so please see their help pages for up to date instructions:
Google Support instructions for setting up Google Analytics.
Update April 2021: Google officially made Google Analytics 4 "GA4" the default option for all new Analytics properties in October 2020 so if you're setting up Google Analytics for the first time, you'll need to follow the instructions here to add a GA4 tag to your website instead of the instructions below.
The Analytics tracking ID for your website that you'll receive once you've gone through the process will then need to be linked to your account. The code will look something like this:
- Simply copy this code then go back to your PromoteMyPlace account
- Select 'Setup Google Analytics' from the main options
- In the field provided simply paste your Tracking ID number and click ‘Save’:
You have now successfully set up Google Analytics to your PromoteMyPlace holiday rental website.
TIP: There is a lot of data held by Google and you can spend a large amount of time analysing it. We suggest you only check your site stats once per week. Focus on a few things. The number of visitors, the source of those visitors and the keywords being used to find your site - this will help you identify quickly how people are finding your website and allow you to see what's working and what's not.
